The Founders

Jennifer Hilborn and Sarah Varley met in 1996 as co-workers in the marketing department for the Swedish Telecom giant Ericsson.  Working together they discovered a shared set of fundamental values and forged a powerful connection.  When the duo left their global roles at Ericsson in 2001 — Sarah was developing the company’s strategy for Entertainment Marketing and Jennifer managed Ericsson’s Corporate Social Responsibility program – they formed Esteemed Events.

Inspired by the power of Experience Marketing to influence an audience and the notion that society could be different if people had a greater sense of self-worth, Sarah and Jennifer’s first project was the creation of The Girl Event, a self-esteem building event for teenage girls which launched in 2003. The event attracted corporate sponsorship from Hudson Bay Company, Proctor & Gamble, Rogers and Universal Music, as well as a non-profit partnership with YWCA Toronto.  The event also received broad media coverage on all major Canadian news networks. In addition to their success with The Girl Event, they have built a successful marketing communications agency, working with a varied client list in both non-profit and for profit sectors.

While they share key ideals of integrity, excellence and relatedness, Sarah and Jennifer bring very unique gifts to the partnership.
